Red-eared Sliders are a BIG threat to our ecosystem.

They may seem tiny and harmless but in fact they are one of the worlds top 100 worst invasive species! Most of the time they are being smuggled in.

Part of the characteristics of an invasive species are aggressive behavior, highly adaptable to new habitats and reproduces rapidly. RES compete with native turtles for sources. Thus, pushing our native turtles to extinction.

Capturing, removing, cataloging and eradicating RES are part of mitigation strategies taken by the state of Pennsylvania, to control the population in their ponds and rivers.

They also carry Salmonella!

This just shows how dangerous RES invasions are.
