SARS-CoV-2 a.ka Covid-19 is a mutated new virus. There’s no scientific proof that it can be or was transmitted from animals. First they suspected it was from bats and then from anteaters……but this is yet to be strongly supported by scientific data.

You may have come across misinformation that animals can transmit Covid-19. This is unsubstantiated.

There is a difference between corona virus and Covid-19. The current global pandemic is caused by Covid-19 and not corona virus. Corona virus in animals does not transfer to humans and animal rescuers can vouch for this as we had treated countless dogs with the virus over the years.

The cases of dogs being infected with Covid-19 in HK, a cat in Europe and a tiger in NY all came from humans – meaning these animals were infected by their Covid-19 positive owners and caretakers.

These are also very remote and random cases. Please do not panic as the World Health Organisation has also stated that humans cannot be infected by animal corona virus.

However, please keep your pets indoors for their own safety. Take care and stay safe everyone.

Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better

Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better is a canine welfare programme initiated by non-profit organisation Community Development and Integration Initiative (CDII).

MDDB's main activities revolve around rescuing dogs from the local council pounds as well as off the streets. Once they have been rescued, the dogs are vaccinated and neutered before being put up for adoption.
