We posted this and someone went to rescue these two dogs. Since the rescue, we have received calls almost on a daily basis. Apparently an ‘Auntie’ took care of the dogs and she wants them back. But the person who notified us said the dogs were being fed by a man three times a week only. So, there are many contradictions here. We told all the people that she obviously did a rotten job and should not get them back and being tied-up 24/7 was no life for any dog. The first to call us to convey the message was an Indian girl who worked in the area, this was followed by another person who also knew the ‘Auntie’. The second person also revealed that the dogs had been caught by the dog catchers many times – more reason why they should not go back to her. She also said that she was about to adopt the dogs when they were removed. Then a vet, who claimed to be treating the dogs called. We told him that being a vet, he of all persons should know that the ‘Auntie’ will not be able to do her best for them. Finally, a policemen from the Kajang police station called. We told him the same thing and added the WE WILL ADVISE THE RESCUER NOT TO RETURN THE DOGS TO HER BECAUSE THEY NOW HAD A CHANCE TO BECOME PETS AND LIVE IN HOMES INSTEAD OF BEING TIED UP IN BACKLANES.

Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better is a canine welfare programme initiated by non-profit organisation Community Development and Integration Initiative (CDII).

MDDB's main activities revolve around rescuing dogs from the local council pounds as well as off the streets. Once they have been rescued, the dogs are vaccinated and neutered before being put up for adoption.
