SPCA officials attended yesterday (22 Dec 2011) to follow up on the improvements for the huskies. We agree with the writer that the conditions at the field are unacceptable, and had relayed this to the owner initially.
On arrival at the location yesterday, conditions for the dogs were found to be appalling. The dogs were entangled in their leashes restricting their movement (we subsequently untangled them giving them access to their water bowl), flies and insects were flying around them, and faeces and diarrhoea were amid the surroundings. We informed AVA and their officials arrived shortly after.
The SPCA recommended that the dogs be impounded by AVA and has written officially to ask that the necessary action be taken against the owner.
The Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has recommended a pair of Huskies found in poor conditions be impounded by the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority (AVA). The SPCA has also recommended that necessary action be taken against the owner of the dogs.
