这是在前几天领养活动中，等家等到累坏的小毛孩 … 揪心的是最后，她还是没等到家人能一起过今年的圣诞 … (两个月大，女生🐶)

一直以来都有不少网友私讯问， 『我想领养，可是我不要菜狗，有其他的吗?』 或是 『有两个月大的名种开放领养吗?』

看到这样的发问我们只能苦笑，领养真正的意义，很多人根本不了解。

就是因为街上太多没有家的可怜菜狗、菜猫，大家才会提倡 【领养取代购买】，护生园是拯救和收容浪浪的地方，什么都不多，最多的当然就是菜猫菜狗，而名种只占了1%左右.

但名种猫狗不是被主人恶意遗弃，就是从黑心繁殖场救出的，身体不是有缺陷，就是上了年纪，当我们问，『你会介意它的缺陷和年纪吗?』 得到的一般都是已读不回 …

不计较品种、年纪和毛色，给与流浪的生命一个家，让它幸福一生，这是领养美丽的地方，也是它真正的意义。

当我们停止把 【名种标签】放在猫狗身上的那一天，浪浪才有希望，社会地位才能提升，无品种之分，让狗就是狗，让猫就是猫 🙏

每一个过节多希望每一只毛孩能和属于它们的家人一起渡过

This is a tiring little furkid who waited for a home during our adoption event a few days ago … Sadly, at last she still couldn’t find her human family to spend Christmas this year … (two months old, female 🐶)

Many netizens have been private messaging us asking, “I want to adopt, but I don’t want mixed breed cat/dog, is there any other breed?” Or “Is there any two-month-old pedigree that is open for adoption?”

When we see such a question, we can only laugh bitterly. Many people do not understand the true meaning of adoption.

It is because there are too many poor homeless mixed breed dogs and cats in the street that makes people start to advocate the concept of “ADOPT, DON’T SHOP”.

A shelter is a place to rescue and house the homeless animals. Of course, most of the dogs and cats in shelter are mixed breed, while we have rescued pedigree pets for only about 1%.

But the pedigree pets were either maliciously abandoned by their ex-owners or rescued from the unethical breeding farm. They are either disabled or old, and when we asked, “Do you mind its disability and age?” We received no reply most of the time …

Regardless of breed, age, and their fur color, giving a home to a homeless life and making it a happy life forever, this is the true and beautiful meaning of adoption.

The day when we stop putting “name tags” on cats and dogs, only then the homeless animals can have more hope and their social status can be improved.

Forget about the breed, let dogs be dogs, and let cats be cats 🙏

Every festive season we do hope that every furkid can get a home and spend the beautiful moment with their family …

Homeless & Orphan Pets Exist (H.O.P.E.) is a non-profit organization and no-kill shelter that aims to improve welfare of strays and abandoned pets around Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

Our four core missions are rescuing, re-homing, sterilization and increasing public awareness of pet ownership and responsibilities. Currently, we are caring for approximately 700 abandoned animals in our shelter located at Lima Kedai.
