Although she was extremely lucky to survive the first eight weeks of life, adorable Weewy had no future out there on the streets. She was born with only one eye and a deformed right front leg. When picked up by Soi Dog Foundation’s rescue officers, she was infested with fleas, ticks and was anaemic.

On top of it all, the vets also discovered that she was fighting against the highly contagious canine parvo virus.

Parvo is a highly contagious virus which kills the vast majority of unvaccinated and weak puppies if they are infected by this dangerous disease.

As the COVID-19 crisis continues to unfold, we are sadly seeing a stark increase in the number of puppies, particularly those who are abandoned, coming into the Soi Dog shelter. Many are battling life-threatening injuries and malnourishment. What’s more, a larger number than usual are also fighting often fatal illnesses such as distemper and parvovirus.

Parvo is a miserable yet unnecessary disease that claims young lives very easily.

With no government funding for our work, your donations truly are the difference between life and death for animals like her. https://links.soidog.org/will-you-be-there-for-puppies-like-weewy

The only way to end this suffering for good is to prevent the unnecessary birth of unwanted animals through sterilisation, as well as ensuring all animals are properly vaccinated. Because of our supporters, Soi Dog is now neutering and vaccinating more dogs and cats than any other organisation. But with millions of street animals still out there, we have a long way to go to end the misery once and for all in Thailand.
