It’s heartening to know that not all species need passports and travel visas to experience different countries. Our winged friends, Broad-billed Sandpipers (Limicola falcinellus) have made their appearance at Belawai, Sarawak this year 😍. Thank you Daniel Kong @Malaysian Nature Society Kuching Branch for this amazing shot last February!

Do you know? Some shorebirds are migratory birds. The birds behave differently at different tidal times:
.
1) Low tide: when the tide recedes, they move out to feed and disperse along the shore, until most of them were nowhere to be seen.
.
2) Incoming mid-tide: the rising water starts to push the birds inward towards the beach area.
.
3) High tide: roosting time for most shorebirds. Different shorebird species have different preferences for roosting sites, ranging from sandy to rocky sites, tidal marsh, and mangroves.
