COMEDY SHOW DONATION THANKS TO CLEVER ANIMAL ADVOCATE
The animals recently received a donation from the most unlikely place. The comedy show “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” on HBO sent a $5,000 donation to help our animal rescue squads internationally to provide food for homeless animals.
“The show did a segment on an old tv art auction from 1992, and the painting was part of that,” Harmony Fund supporter John Pogue said. “I bought it at the time as a joke and amazingly still had it. “
As the comedy show announded its search for the painting, “It became quite the national treasure hunt event,” John said.
“During the broadcast, they had only offered to make a donation to a food bank in exchange for the artwork (if they ever found it!). I had them do that as well, but I insisted they also donate to an animal charity as a condition of my giving it to them, and I chose Harmony Fund. I’ve donated myself in the past, but never had the chance to send such a large amount, so I’m absolutely delighted it all worked out. Times are obviously tough all over, so I knew you could benefit greatly at such a terrible time. “
