In Light Of World Volunteer Recognition Day, Which..

In light of World Volunteer Recognition Day, which falls on April 20, Soi Dog would like to take this opportunity to honour all volunteers that admirably choose to give their time, resources and attention towards causes that give hope for a better future.

First and foremost, we would like to acknowledge all the frontline essential workers (doctors, nurses, practitioners) who risk their lives every day to help Covid-19 infected patients during this global pandemic.

In addition, a special thank you to the Soi Dog volunteers who have passed through our doors and impacted the lives of the many animals in our care. Since temporarily closing our sanctuary to visitors and volunteers due to the current crisis, their absence has certainly been felt.

You have truly made a difference for our shelter animals. Not only do the animals get to be socialised and loved, but you were also a part of making their adoptions come true. Almost all of the animals in our care are former street animals who have never even been indoors and need to learn to feel comfortable around people. Socialisation is especially important for shy animals and for those who have been abused. Many adopters say their new companions are very friendly and comfortable with them, even as soon as they arrive from Thailand. This is because of the amazing efforts of our volunteers.

We will forever value every volunteer that chooses to care for street animals. In the eyes of these animals, you are their everyday heroes.
