Amidst The Partial Lockdown Due To Covid-19 In Ban..

Amidst the partial lockdown due to Covid-19 in Bangkok, Soi Dog’s CNVR (Catch- Neuter-Vaccinate-Return) teams are making the most of the situation by focusing on the shyer or feral dogs who are normally difficult to catch.

Keeping in line with social distancing, they are now aiming to get to the dogs who are normally difficult to catch and live away from populated areas. These recent pictures were from our Bangkok team as they tried to catch a family of shy dogs, who were hiding under various buildings of the Rajamangala University of Technology in Bangkok. Once caught, they will be transported to our clinic where they will receive vaccinations before neutering. They will be returned to their safe territory only once they are determined physically and medically healthy.

Soi Dog Foundation’s CNVR project extended to Thailand’s capital in 2015. With an estimated 640,000 free-roaming dogs in Bangkok City and metropolitan area, this by far is our most ambitious CNVR project. To this date, the Bangkok project has already neutered and vaccinated nearly 200,000 dogs and cats. This was possible thanks to your generous support.

Alongside the CNVR project, over 1300 animals were treated for injury and disease at our Bangkok clinic. With a work force of 68 members of staff headed by head vet, Dr Tuntikorn Rungpatana, the team includes vets, vet assistants and animal rescue officers. The project consists of 6 mobile teams.

The number of lives saved from being born into a life of suffering is incalculable. However, there is so much more work needed to be done.

More space is required to shelter those that have been injured and medically trained professionals are needed to care for them.

Thanks to your generosity, Soi Dog has proved CNVR to be the most effective and humane method of reducing the stray population with its long-standing programme in Phuket, where the stray population has been reduced by around 90% since 2003.
