Did You Know That Soi Dog Runs An Education Progra..

Did you know that Soi Dog runs an education programme here in Thailand? Thanks to your support, we are able to reach out to local communities with this programme and teach the basic principles of animal welfare for the benefit of both owned pets and free-roaming strays.

In February, Soi Dog joined forces with the Public Health and Environment Division of a local municipality here in Phuket to set up an animal care training day. Members of the community – from public health volunteers to local students – came together to hear our Humane Education Team discuss animal-handling tips, the importance of animal welfare and the prevention of rabies.

The local office of the Department of Livestock Development also provided free sterilisation services for 30 dogs and cats at the training day as part of their initiative to control the stray animal population.

Collaboration continued this week as our veterinary team worked alongside the municipality to vaccinate 256 dogs and cats, both owned and stray, at a local temple.

These are strong signs that the importance of neutering and vaccinating animals is gradually being heard and understood here in Phuket.

But there’s still much more to be done. More schools to visit. More communities to reach. More municipalities to collaborate with. Growing our Education and our Community Outreach Programmes is our best hope of educating for a change in beliefs and creating a brighter future for the animals of Thailand and beyond. And it’s only possible with your support.

If you believe that positive attitudes towards street animals can be formed with the right educational tools, in turn ending the suffering of stray dogs and cats, please consider helping here: https://links.soidog.org/help-education-programme
