APPEAL FOR INFORMATION ON USE OF DARTS ON BIRDS AT JURONG WEST
On 28th February 2020, ACRES was alerted by a concerned member of public who rescued a #RockPigeon with a dart on his/her body at 864 Jurong West Street 81. Upon arrival, we also observed another pigeon who had two darts on the body but managed to fly away. The rescued pigeon is currently under recovery and will be undergoing a procedure soon to remove the dart safely.
We identified the darts to be blow gun darts (of about 10 cm in length) and we suspect that some individual/s has access to a blow pipe or a dart gun in this location or the surrounding area and has used it on these birds. It is not only an act of cruelty and violence to put the innocent birds through pain and suffering, but possession of such weapons or sale of such items online should be strictly regulated considering the pain they can cause to any animal or human on whom it is targeted at.
A sample photo of darts from online is shown in this post.
If anyone has relevant useful information on the above case, we urge you to contact us at acrescrime@gmail.com
A case has been filed with the Singapore Police Force and NParks for investigation.
