Setiu Wetlands is a unique and diverse wetland encompassing freshwater, brackish and marine environments with at least 9 types of interconnected ecosystems. The wetlands provide various functions and services that are essential in fulfilling human needs, supporting livelihood, safeguarding biodiversity and as a basis for sustainable development.

Maintaining healthy and functioning wetland ecosystems as well as addressing the threats and issues affecting the wetland is critical in sustaining the benefits they provide to both humans and nature. Through a recently sealed partnership between CIMB Islamic and WWF-Malaysia, efforts to strengthen the protection and management of Setiu Wetlands will be scaled up. Additionally, local communities’ knowledge and capacity will be enhanced to enable them to effectively participate in conservation initiatives that contribute to their supplementary livelihood.

Together in this partnership, CIMB and WWF-Malaysia can meaningfully champion the efforts in bringing about a sustainable future for Setiu Wetlands with tangible and beneficial outcomes for nature and people.
