Hero was found hiding behind a water pump in one of Phuket’s housing compounds with severe mange, swollen limbs and a maggot-infested wound around his left ear. When he arrived at Soi Dog Foundation back in 2013, our late co-founder Gill Dalley immediately developed a soft spot for him, asking the vets to “mix in at least ½ cup of dog food with biscuits and boiled eggs” as a treat.

Hero went on to capture many more hearts, including those of his adopters, the Garritts, who welcomed him into their family home in the USA in 2015.

“Hero’s Gotcha Day was March 8th. He was one of Gills’ favorites! Hero is happy and very healthy! He has been with me now for almost 5 years. He is very friendly with everyone and absolutely loves children. He is very gentle but yet protective of my grandchildren. I love him so very much. Hero is doing excellent. He has not been on any medications at all for about 3 years and is perfectly healthy. No residual effects from [the attack] that he endured.”
