“[The dog hospital] was Gill’s dream for many, many years, and the last four years of her life she dedicated to designing literally every detail in that hospital. And the last two to actually overseeing its construction, which I can tell you was very frustrating at times. It is a wonderful achievement, a great legacy to Gill. One of the many legacies she left for the Thailand street dogs that she loved.”

Did you know that much of our current shelter here in Phuket was carefully designed by our late co-founder Gill Dalley? This includes our dog hospital, which is the largest and most modern facility of its kind in Asia for the treatment of dogs.

A perfectionist by nature, Gill toiled day and night to ensure everything was just right, from the laying of the foundations right down to the types of screws used to attach fittings. She believed the street animals of Thailand deserved the very best.

Gill’s tireless work to improve and expand the shelter has ended the suffering of countless street dogs and cats and saved an untold number of lives.

Soi Dog Foundation

Established in 2003 in Phuket, Thailand, Soi Dog is Southeast Asia's largest organisation helping stray animals. The Gill Dalley sanctuary in Phuket is home to over 1,600 animals. Soi Dog also has a treatment facility in Bangkok and responds to crisis situations throughout Thailand. The organisation is dedicated to implementing effective, sustainable solutions that reduce the suffering of dogs and cats in Asia, runs entirely on donations and works efficiently so all donations are used to help animals as effectively as possible.
