Over The Last Two Months Soi Dog Foundation Hosted..

Over the last two months Soi Dog Foundation hosted a series of veterinary specialists who volunteered to visit our shelter in Phuket and share some of their knowledge with our vet team.

In December Dr Nicolette Hayward who has international credentials in Diagnostic Imaging (xrays, ultrasound and advanced imaging techniques) spent 4 days with our vets teaching them how to perform a thorough abdominal ultrasound examination and how to interpret tricky Xrays. Dr Hayward, also assisted with some of our more complicated cases at Soi Dog.

Our vets Xray and perform ultra sound scans about 20-30 animals every day, this training has been invaluable for them.

Then, in January, we were lucky enough to have two more specialists visit us

Specialising in Veterinary Cardiology, Dr Jo Harris and Dr Anna Beber spent two full days teaching cardiology to our veterinarians and then showing them how to perform a good quality echocardiogram (scan of the heart).

Dr Jo and Anna have donated a scanning table and have provided Soi Dog with a consultancy service for our veterinarians who have questions regarding ongoing cases.

We are grateful to have Dr. Hayward,Dr.Harris and Dr.Beber for sharing their expertise with our vets who can now go on to make even better diagnosis of the hundreds of injured street cats and dogs who receive treatment in our hospital.

If you’d like to be a vet volunteer and share your knowledge as well, learn what it is like to be a vet in a shelter dedicated to street animals, visit our website today: https://www.soidog.org/volunteer
