Do You Remember Putara, Whom We Believe Got Caught..

Do you remember Putara, whom we believe got caught in a snare? The poor boy’s leg was too damaged to save, so our vets had to amputate it. But happily, he has adjusted well to being a tripod, and is now available for adoption!

There would have been no place for this dog to get lifesaving care if not for the members of the Emergency Response Team. Will you please join these amazing animal lovers by pledging a small monthly gift now? Click here to join: https://emergency.soidog.org/ert

By age 2, poor Putara had already faced a lifetime’s worth of suffering. He was found outside a hotel, cowering under a table, seeking shelter from the hot sun. Hotel staff were deeply concerned about him, but when they approached, he cried out.

It was obvious this poor boy desperately needed medical help, but was too scared to let anyone come near. A staff member called us to report Putara, who was taken to our hospital.

Once there, Putara was so scared and desperate, he tried to bite his rescuers. The pain from the deep wound on his leg, on top of the neglect and starvation he’d faced, had destroyed any trust he ever had in humans.

We’ll probably never know exactly what happened to Putara, but we suspect he was caught in a trap while looking for food and water.

When he first arrived, our vets gave him strong sedatives and pain relief. But he was still terrified, and tried to bite anyone who touched him. As a last resort, a muzzle was used to protect our staff and to ensure we could help the poor dog, whom our vets felt wasn’t strong enough to undergo anesthesia.

Eventually, Putara calmed down enough to be evaluated. Apart from him being emaciated and dehydrated, this poor dog had a wound straight down to the bone, which was fractured. No wonder he was so desperately unhappy!

After his initial treatment, Putara let our hospital staff touch him for the first time. He seemed to understand he was now in a safe place with kind people, maybe for the first time ever.

Dogs like Putara are all alone in this world. Animal lovers like you are their only hope. A small monthly donation would do so much good for the homeless dogs and cats of Thailand we rescue. Currently we have around 1,100 in our care. Will you please help? Click here to donate now: https://emergency.soidog.org/ert

Thank you for caring about homeless dogs like Putara.
