Bonito Means Handsome In Spanish. But This Poor 10..

Bonito means “handsome” in Spanish. But this poor 10-year-old wasn’t really looking his dishy best when he arrived at our hospital with a horrible maggot wound covering most of his head. A kind shop owner called us when Bonito approached her.
We want to answer each call and help all the desperate animals like this old boy that we can – but we can’t do it alone. Will you please pledge a small monthly gift and join the Emergency Response Team now? Click here: https://emergency.soidog.org/ert
Maggot wound cases are as dangerous as they are common. In the tropical heat of Phuket, Thailand, maggots invade quickly. Homeless animals like Bonito, who have no owner to look after them, can languish for weeks or months while the pests feed and grow, quickly making wounds that started out small and innocuous into life-threatening infections.
In fact, we didn’t write about Bonito right away because his condition was touch-and-go. Thankfully, he’s safe here now, and has turned the corner. His wound is healing well and he’s been getting all the ongoing care he needs, including a neuter surgery, flea treatments, and meds for diarrhoea.
We’re keeping an eye on Bonito’s heart because our vets detected a murmur in this senior fella. They are also watching some lumps on his neck.
Bonito is a quiet old boy who hasn’t fought our vets as they’ve treated him. If anything, he seems grateful someone cares.
We know you care about homeless, hurting dogs like Bonito. Will you please help us be there for as many of these dogs as possible by joining the Emergency Response Team now? Thank you. Click here to join: https://emergency.soidog.org/ert
