This precious old girl is Stealer. We suspect she was given this name because of her uncanny ability to steal hearts at first glance!

But behind her sweet little face hides a great deal of pain. Some heartless person abandoned Stealer, 10, with a broken jaw and a deep chest wound.

If not for the generosity of these kind animal lovers, this “oldie” – as our vets like to call our older dogs – might never have been discovered or received any help.

Stealer was brought to the attention of our vet nurse and her assistant as they were making their regular rounds in Phuket’s rural communities.

She is safe at our hospital now, where our vets are treating her for a laundry list of issues. Aside from her broken jaw and chest wound, she has been suffering with ticks and fleas, dermatitis; and dry, infected eyes. She is getting all the ongoing care she needs, as well as nutritious food and comfortable shelter.

We initially suspected she might have a heart murmur, indicating disease, but this happily has not turned out to be the case.

Stealer is a precious new face among around 1,100 dogs and cats already living at our hospital and shelter. We are currently close to our capacity. Looking after so many animals is quite expensive, as you might imagine.

It boggles the mind to think someone could simply dump an old, vulnerable dog like this little girl. But it happens all too often to older animals. Will you please help us care for little Stealer and be ready to save the next desperate dog like her?
