Hello there, my name’s Aumnicha, and I have mastered the admirable traits of being gentle but stern.

I was a street dog for most of my life. It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t particularly bad either. I was lucky enough to have had a lovely lady feeding me once a day for quite some time. She even came looking for me when I disappeared for four days. When she found me, I was lying under a tree unable to move. It seemed I was hit by a car and dumped there. She immediately phoned Soi Dog Foundation for help because she knew my injuries were so severe that she would not be able to afford the treatment for them.

I was terribly shaken up and scared when I arrived at Soi Dog Foundation, but somehow I knew I would be taken care of here. I had semi-paralysed hind legs and skin erosion on my elbow and parts of my chest, not to mention I had a high fever and anemia. My recovery was a lengthy one, but I was bent on healing and getting better.

I struggled for a while. It was hard for me to balance while walking, and when I tried to stand on my own, I would fall down after a few steps. But the vets noticed my strength and determination, so they opted for physiotherapy which worked miraculously. Although I made great progress, my posture will always have a little quirk to it. This is one of the reasons why I tend to take my time on walks, that and I have the desire to smell every single object or living organism along my path. I think it adds to my charm!

When I’m in my enclosure, I get along well with other dog companions. If someone new approaches, it might take some time for me to say hello. After a while, I’ll come out of my safe space under the open pavilion towards you for a head nuzzle and to tease you to play by lifting my paw ever so gently.

Your journey with me isn’t going to be a straight line, but rather than travelling fast on the highway, expect to take the scenic route with me. I tend to stop and smell the flowers, just happy to be spending time with you. After all, it’s about the experiences along the way, not the destination.
