Poor Kolui. It’s hard enough being homeless, wandering the streets, hoping to luck upon some scraps to eat, struggling to find a place out of the harsh elements and other dogs’ territories to rest for just a bit.

Getting hit by a car on top of it all seems like adding injury to insult. The impact literally snapped this 3-year-old’s right hind leg in half. Such a heavy price to pay for not having a loving owner to look after you.

It’s giving season. Please help. https://www.soidog.org/content/give-the-gift-of-life

Lucky isn’t exactly the first word that springs to mind in Kolui’s case. But unlike thousands of other homeless Thai dogs who get injured through no fault of their own, Kolui had a saviour. A Soi Dog animal rescue officer picked him up after a kind person alerted us to his sad fate.

Kolui is safe with us now. Unfortunately, our vets could not save his leg and had to amputate. He’s getting pain control and needed cage rest while he heals.

Once he heals, he’ll almost surely be able to get along fine on three legs. There’s no animal more resilient than a dog. And this one is getting all the care and love he needs – maybe for the first time ever.

Thank you for caring so much about animals like Kolui and the around 1,100 others who call Soi Dog home. Will you please donate now? We need you now more than ever. https://www.soidog.org/content/give-the-gift-of-life

Without compassionate animal lovers like you, Kolui would almost certainly still be out there somewhere, dragging his hurt leg behind him, living in agony in addition to all the other suffering homeless animals endure.

It is expensive to provide shelter, food and medical care for more than 1,000 animals. (The love is free.) We often worry that some day, we might have to turn away a desperate animal like Kolui.

This season of giving, please don’t forget about the animals who need you. There is no one else to help them. Click here: https://www.soidog.org/content/give-the-gift-of-life
