A trip to a deserted tropical island would be heaven for most humans. But for two dogs heartlessly abandoned on one, it was a hell they were lucky to have survived.

It took Soi Dog rescue officers hours of travel by boat and truck, but Lemorro and Livana are now safe at our shelter.

We stop at nothing to save desperate animals. Please help. https://emergency.soidog.org/ert

We are already caring for around 1,100 dogs and cats at our hospital and shelter. To keep rescuing desperate animals like Lemorro and Livana, we need support from as many caring animal lovers as possible.

Our rescue officers were responding to a report of two dogs found on Ko Payoo, a tiny island 85 km (40 mi) off our Phuket base. An inhumane human had apparently abandoned them there.

This rescue was extreme even for us. Ko Payoo is in a remote chain only open from mid-October to mid-May. It is not continuously occupied and gets few visitors.

Lemorro, 3, and Livana, 2, were apparently dumped shortly after this year’s opening date by a callous person who must have realised the poor dogs would have no access to food, water and shelter.

Our vets have thoroughly examined the girls. Happily, other than being hungry and dehydrated, they had no serious problems. They are receiving vaccinations, spay surgeries and other basic care.

(Photo note: Please be assured we only use muzzles as needed to protect staff and ensure animals can be helped.)

Obviously, these girls cannot go back to a deserted island. So, Lemorro and Livana will become two new furry faces among the thousand-plus dogs and cats we already look after.

We love to tell supporters about the good your gifts do. But to be honest, with each new rescue, we worry how many more animals we can afford to help.

Providing homeless, hurting animals with medical care, food and shelter and transforming their lives is expensive – especially when you consider countless ones still need help.

But when you love animals as much as we do, NOT helping them is unthinkable. Please join our Emergency Response Team now to help ensure we will never have to turn away an animal in need. Thank you.
