Little Nanadao will always be haunted by the cruelty of a person who doesn’t even deserve to be called a human being.
We were able to help this little cat because of kind people like you, who only want to help animals. Who don’t see homeless kitties like Nanadao as nuisances or burdens simply because they need help, but have no one to care about them.
Will you please join our Care for Cats Club so we can help more cats in trouble, like this little girl was? https://bit.ly/i_want_to_help_kitties_who_need_me
The horrible wounds on Nanadao’s legs resulted from someone throwing scalding hot water at her. She’d probably wandered up to that person, meowing pitifully for food because she was hungry.
Being homeless, she had no one to feed her, or to even care about a little soul who just needed some compassion.
And so her question, “Will you please help me?” was answered with vicious cruelty. At a country club, no less.
Thank goodness a Soi Dog staffer who works in the community learned of this attack, collected the poor little cat and brought her to our hospital right away.
As you can see from the photos, the damage to her hind legs was so horrendous, all her hair was gone.
Our vets got right to work on Nanadao, first administering pain relief and applying aloe to soothe the pain and inflammation of her burns. She was also given medicine to make her calm and comfortable.
Nanadao is safe at our shelter now, eating well and sleeping comfortably. Her veterinarian reports her wounded hind legs are improving daily, the inflammation has greatly lessened, and she can still bear weight on her injured legs and walk almost normally.
She is still experiencing some bleeding and pain on the burned areas, which is to be expected. But overall, Nanadao is much better than when she was brought in that awful day.
She is receiving ongoing care for a number of issues. Our vets found she was mildly depressed and slightly dehydrated. She had a bit of a cold, and was isolated temporarily from healthy kitties as she recovered. She went through spells of vomiting and diarrhoea, which have improved now.
Sadly, Nanadao tested positive for both feline distemper and feline calicivirus, a major cause of respiratory infection. Fortunately, she tested negative for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV).
This poor baby, who’s estimated to be about one and a half years old, has really been through the wringer. But Nanadao probably would have died from her burns if she had not been brought so quickly to the Soi Dog Foundation hospital. And she, and we, have our wonderful, generous supporters to thank for saving her life.
Will you please join our Care for Cats Club today and commit to a regular monthly gift of whatever you can afford, to save kitties who get into trouble, like Nanadao? Of course, one-off donations are always welcome. To give, click this link: https://bit.ly/i_want_to_help_kitties_who_need_me
