Let Grass Be Thy Medicine – Heidi’s Herb

I decided to try planting Heidi’s herb again.

The last time I did it, she refused to eat it. She still wanted to go out to her stash at the park, but lately, we noticed Heidi has been a little tired going to the park. Luckily we also have this same weed/herb in our garden, so the moment she comes out, she will head straight for the weeds/herbs, but the problem is, she won’t come back to the house after that. She would end up on the road or crosses over to the park or some neighbour’s house.

So I dug up a clump of the weed and placed it into a pot.

The moment I brought the pot in, guess who went for it?

Ginger started eating it.

Well, he is Mr Kiasu, isn’t he? He will not lose out on anything.

We planted some at the patio.

Some at Bunny’s Garden too, just in case.

Hey Heidi, we got your grass!

But Indy goes for another type of grass in Bunny’s Garden.

These thin blades.

The rest of them like serai.

It didn’t take too long for Heidi to discover the pot of grass.

Patiently, we waited…

And she eats!!

Well, I’m completely hopeless at planting things, but I hope this weed continues to grow so that Heidi will have access to her herb anytime she wants it.

We will bring in more pots of it.

Somehow, our cats don’t like wheatgrass. They prefer something more local? Only Tabs loves wheatgrass but she ended up very sick twice after eating it, so no more wheatgrass for her. It must be some cultural incompatibility.
