Indy, It Has Been 24 Hours Now…

It’s been 24 hours…
The last loose stools was at 8.20am yesterday.
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I woke up this morning and scrutinised the entire length of the sandpit.
No loose stools.
Pinch me, please.
That was at 5.45am. And it was still dark. I waited until it was brighter and scrutinised every inch of the sandpit again.
No loose stools.
Really???
It’s been a nightmare for me for the last two months when I would see loose stools every time I approached the sandpit. The problem was first detected on 25th August, actually. That’s when I noticed blood-tinged pasty stools. Normally my husband scoops at this sandpit and he says he had noticed it “many months ago”. He said he scooped up pasty stools many times but didn’t think it warranted an alert. Granted, he thought it was pasty because of the rain.
After I detected the blood in the stools, that’s when I started spying on who it could be. I narrowed it down to Cleo or Indy because Cow and Bunny do it on another spot while Pole does it in the middle of the garden. Finally, it was confirmed – it was Indy’s. Cleo’s spot was close by but nearer to the wall. That’s when it all started.
Indy had a full breakfast today, consisting of raw chicken fillet and Cubgrub. I gave him his 37g portion, which is his 2% portion (based on the ideal weight of 5.5kg), divided into three meals per day. He was able to retain it and took a nap after that.
Nap time.
I took a risk giving him his full portion but it was a calculated risk. It was also a calculated risk that I restarted him on Cubgrub on Day 3 of the SlipperyElm+Boulardii+rawfillet treatment. Today is Day 5.
Yesterday, Indy “tricked” me by changing his poop-spot, so last night, I took this green netting and covered all the bald spots. My husband had cleared the weeds and grass to plant this tree. Afterwards I am going to the nursery to buy some grass to cover up all the bald spots so that it’s easier for me to monitor.
At 8.15am, Heidi had her after-taiji egg yolk, so Indy asked for food from the window sill. He is so used to eating at the window sill because that’s what we had been doing for the past one week ever since he had to go on a different diet. I just gave him a very small amount of raw chicken fillet.
I know it’s still too early to celebrate. I don’t know if there is a light at the end of this long, dark tunnel yet…
Fingers crossed.
If Indy has a healthy gut, and he is on Cubgrub, there should be very little faeces and it could even be once in several days since raw food is highly digestible and most of it is absorbed. The faeces would be very small and will hardly smell. I’ve noticed this in all the other 7 cats ever since everyone converted to raw food.
