A three-legged black cat’s #Furrytailending WHY adoption matters!

Kerrigan was found by an animal lover at a local temple, here in Phuket. She found him as you see him in the first picture with a mangled back leg, covered in maggots.

How this injury happened we will never know but Kerrigan eventually came to Soi Dog Foundation because that’s where he needed to be, as a cat who had no one who cared for him, with an injury that could potentially cost him his life.

The leg was too far damaged to be saved, so it was amputated and once recovered Kerrigan was available for adoption. He waited and waited and waited some more while dozens and dozens of his cattery mates found homes but no one really thought he was worthy enough to be adopted.

But, sometimes we all have to wait for our true love 💕 to come along and that was definitely the case for dearest Kerrigan, when an amazing couple from the UK came to volunteer at the shelter in November 2018.

They weren’t looking to adopt as they not only did they have 2 rescues of their own at home but also provided long term foster care for a local charity.

But, some stories are just written in the stars 🌌 and Kerrigan’s future was finally determined. And after 1 year and 11 months Kerrigan finally found his family and moved to the UK in March 2019.

The most recent update we received from his mum is below and it just melted our hearts.

“He is a different cat to the one that first arrived. He loves attention…Is confident around men…He quite happily chases our middle cat Squeak (who’s getting better at holding his own now!) and does n’t even try to chase our big boy Nemo (who takes no nonsense). K’s personality is evolving all the time, he has mischief written all over his face most of the time…He is free to come/go as he pleases into our garden via the cat flap but hasn’t strayed at all being quite content in the garden”

If cats like Kerrigan did not find homes, it means that when another cat in need just as he did, arrives, we will not be able to give them the care they need to keep them alive and give them the fighting chance they deserve.

Please give a home to a cat who never had a home, never knew what it’s like to be loved and they will add to your life in so many ways you’ve never imagined.

Will you do that Today? http://bit.ly/Adopt-A-SoiCat
