Riverbank Restoration Project In Long Semadoh
Tweet |
WWF-Malaysia currently undertakes a pilot riverbank restoration project which uses bio-engineering methods in Long Semadoh, Lawas – arguably could the first in Sarawak.
Supported by CIMB Islamic Bank, this project uses natural materials for live-fencings, brush walls and coconut coir geotextile mats instead of the conventional hard engineering to restore eroded riverbanks of Trusan River.
“Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much” – Helen Keller. The installations were done by community members, under the guidance of Professor Christopher Gibbins and Dr. Teo Fang Yenn from the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus and with support of Alpha Pinnacle, who partially sponsored the geotextile materials.
