On 4th October, students from SMK Pending, SMK Batu Lintang, SMK St Mary, SMK St Thomas and SMK DPH Abdul Gapor having fun as they learned about the importance of clean rivers through some hands-on activities – DIY water filter, water carry challenge, fish identification and quiz session!

These students came together under the Program Saintis Sungai held recently by Department of Environment (DOE) and Chemical Company of Malaysia Berhad (CCM), with support from WWF-Malaysia, the Natural Resources and Environment Board, Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri, Sarawak River Board and Kuching Water Board.

Through the activities, we hoped that the young generation would appreciate water and understand the need for clean rivers and healthy forests, know some interesting aquatic species and realise that everyone on this Earth is responsible to protect and conserve our rivers and nature.
