Remember Yuri? In his newest pictures, he might look like Thailand’s version of internet and movie-famous Grumpy Cat, but don’t let his stroppy scowl fool you. He’s actually much better now.

A kind person found the poor boy in a heartbreaking state and let us know. Yuri had gotten injured, and his wound got infected. Maggots quickly invaded it, as is common in tropical Thailand.

No animal should have to endure this horror. Please give at https://bit.ly/SaveInjuredCats now so homeless animals like Yuri can be helped, and don’t have to languish in misery when they’re sick or injured.

When this homeless 4-year-old arrived at Soi Dog, he looked like he’d already lived all nine lives and then some.

Over time, as the maggots ate at Yuri’s wound, it grew larger and deeper, and more painful and horrific-looking. Because Yuri is so afraid of humans, the compassionate person who wanted to help him failed to catch him right away. Finally, he was successful, and brought Yuri to Soi Dog hospital.

The poor kitty arrived with a gaping, putrid-smelling, pus-filled wound crawling with maggots. He was dehydrated, his lungs were filled with fluid, and he was sneezing and congested. Our vets got right to work on the poor boy, first carefully and gently cleaning and dressing his wound, then giving him antibiotics for his infections.

The good news is our vets successfully repaired Yuri’s horrible wound, and treatments with soothing honey (in addition to antibiotics) are helping it feel better and heal faster. Once he is completely healed, he will have two fractured canine teeth extracted to relieve what must be terrible pain in his mouth.

Animal lovers like you are the only hope cats like Yuri have. Please show them you care by joining our Care for Cats Club. Your monthly gift will ensure there’s a place for homeless cats to be taken when they get sick or injured, and they won’t have to suffer endlessly. https://bit.ly/SaveInjuredCats Thank you.
