Remember Sumoto? He was picked up after a kind person called to report a dog who was very weak and struggling to walk. Please go to https://bit.ly/HelpDogsLikeSumoto to help rescues like this continue!

At about six months old, Sumoto is still a puppy. He was weak and scared when he arrived at our shelter, his left hind leg severely swollen. We don’t know what happened to this poor homeless little boy.

An X-ray revealed no fracture, but did show hip dysplasia. Poor Sumoto was also diagnosed with autoimmune haemolytic anaemia, meaning his immune system attacks his red blood cells. To top it off, he had uveitis, a condition that caused his right eye to sit in an abnormal position.

After all this young pup had suffered, we were determined to help him. Sadly, we couldn’t save his eye, and it was removed recently. But he is adapting well, as most dogs do when this happens.

Sumoto also had surgery to correct the problem with his hip, and is receiving intensive physiotherapy to rehabilitate it. His dysplasia meant his hip could be easily dislocated, and the joint worn out faster.

His injured leg is also much better, and he’s able to put more weight on it with less pain. He still limps when he runs, but it’s a great thing he can even do so. Sumoto’s special type of anaemia is also being treated.

Sumoto is only one of hundreds of animals we’re caring for. Will you please go to https://bit.ly/HelpDogsLikeSumoto and donate now? Your gift will allow us to help more homeless dogs and cats like him, who have no owner to look after them.

There is no government funding for the medical treatment of homeless dogs like Sumoto. They simply have no hope without the support of animal lovers like you. Even a few dollars a week can do more good than you might imagine.

Will you please be a part of these rescues, so more sick and injured homeless dogs and cats can be picked up, provided with emergency medical treatment, and given a second chance at life? Please go to https://bit.ly/HelpDogsLikeSumoto to act now. Thank you.
