The Story of Rama…
Dear Friends and Supporters of Soi Dog,
Thank you for your support this year of the dogs and cats in Soi Dog’s care. It has only been through your support that this important work continues.
2011 has been a challenging yet rewarding year for Soi Dog. Early in the year a large scale distemper epidemic was quickly contained because of your support. More recently Soi Dogs team has, and continues to meet the challenges of saving animal victims of the Bangkok floods.
The story of Rama, one of the many dogs saved from the flood waters highlights the importance ofyour support. Without you, the outcome for dogs like Rama would be much different!
Rama was found late one night by Soi Dog volunteers Cindy and Derek Amey when returning from a flood rescue mission. Rama had dragged herself from the flooded waters onto a busy expressway. She was unable to walk and was spotted dragging herself amongst the busy traffic terrified and seconds away from being hit.
Cindy and Derek took Rama back to Soi Dog’s makeshift emergency clinic in central Bangkok where she received immediate emergency treatment.
When found Rama was severely malnourished, suffered from eye and skin infections as well as severe arthritis and anemia.
It was decided to fly Rama to Soi Dog’s shelter in Phuket as she is an old dog who has obviously had a very hard life and would otherwise suffer a slow and painful death if returned to the streets.
Rama is one of the many dogs who cannot survive on the street and underscores the importance ofSoi Dogs sponsorship program.
I would like to ask you this holiday season to please consider helping Rama or one of the other many dogs in Soi Dogs care by becoming a member of Soi Dogs sponsorship programtoday. For around 80 cents a day you can provide the much needed support to allow more dogs like Rama to be saved.
Sincerely,
John Dalley
