My name is Boonlongmar. I know that’s a mouthful of a name. And to be honest, I’ve been a handful of a pup since I was rescued and brought to Soi Dog Foundation’s hospital. I didn’t mean to be a bad boy. I’m barely a year old, but I’ve been through a lot. I literally have the scars to prove it.
Will you please help Soi Dog Foundation? They were there for me when a nice lady found me wandering hurt and helpless near a highway, and asked them to help me. https://bit.ly/HelpHomelessPups
I might have a funny-sounding name, but what’s happened to me has been anything but amusing. It was quite scary, actually. I’ve been homeless, you see. No loving owner to feed me, love me or even care what happens to me.
Maybe you’re wondering about my mum? Well, she’s gone now. I don’t know what happened to her. Maybe she was hit by a car. And the other dogs around where I was staying didn’t like me very much. I am a rather shy boy, so I was afraid of them. Plus, we had to compete for food and shelter.
If it weren’t for the animal-loving lady who was worried about me getting hit by a car, I’d probably never have gotten a second glance. (Unless I was in someone’s way, of course. I know I sound cynical for such a young pup. It’s just been rough.)
This sweet lady was trying very hard to be kind to me. I was not in the best mood, being in pain and scared, so I was a bit aggressive. She got close enough to notice the big, horrible wound between my shoulders, which was crawling with maggots.
She knew she couldn’t help me by herself, so she got in touch with Soi Dog Foundation, who help hundreds and hundreds of homeless Thai animals a year. Will you please help them be ready to help the next homeless, hurting dog (or cat) like me who comes their way? https://bit.ly/HelpHomelessPups
Soi Dog’s animal rescue officer came for me straight away and took me to their hospital. I was scared and unsure of what was happening to me, so I was not particularly nice to the people who greeted me.
But the humans at Soi Dog weren’t frightened away. They didn’t give up on me. They calmed me down and got right to taking care of my huge, awful wound. It was bleeding a lot where it hadn’t started to necrotise (a fancy word for rot).
I was covered with fleas, which are now all gone, thank goodness. I also have mange, pyoderma and skin lesions. My poor skin is a mess! The vets here are working hard to make me all better with the proper medications.
I’m a bit depressed as well, they say – and who could blame me? But don’t worry – I’m getting the proper meds for that, too, and I’ll be neutered once I’m feeling better.
Thanks to animal lovers like you, I am safe and sound now at the Soi Dog shelter. I’m getting the ongoing care I need, and have a nice, soft, dry place to rest and recover after my ordeal. I’ve had a bit of an upset stomach, but there is plenty of good food for me here when my appetite and tummy return to normal.
For every homeless dog who gets rescued, there are countless ones still out there (cats, too), facing dangers like illness, getting hit by a car or bit by another animal, or being abused by the humans who are supposed to love us. The list goes on, and so does the need.
Will you please help Soi Dog be ready to help the next desperate animal, like I was, who comes through their hospital doors? https://bit.ly/HelpHomelessPups
Thank you for caring so much about helpless, hurting animals, and for helping to make my rescue possible.
