My name is Kagi, and you won’t believe what happened to me. I got bitten on the leg by a monkey! I know it sounds crazy, but it’s really true, and it REALLY hurt. In my tropical home of Phuket, Thailand, it’s not uncommon to see monkeys outdoors, competing with homeless dogs and cats for food and shelter.

That’s where I lived for years – outside. For me, “the great outdoors” was anything but. That is, until Soi Dog rescued me. Will you please go to https://bit.ly/SaveKagi now and give them a gift so they can keep helping homeless animals when they get sick, injured or abused?

Like so many animals here, I had no safe place to call home…no soft, dry bed to sleep on…no loving owner to feed me or help me when I got into trouble.

After that mean old monkey finished monkeying around with my leg, I ran away and hid. I tried to nurse my bite alone, but I just didn’t know how to make it better. It hurt so bad! A human wanted to help me, I heard later, but I was afraid. In my seven years of life, some humans haven’t been so nice to me. Most others never even noticed me, or simply didn’t care. I was just one more homeless dog in their way. No one would give me a chance to show them what a good boy I am.

I hid for so long that my bite got infected. It had been small, but then maggots crawled in and ate at it, and it got bigger and bigger. Meanwhile, I was as hungry as the maggots. When I tried to sneak out and find some food, the human who was worried about me was right there waiting.

To make a long story short, I was caught, and ended up at Soi Dog hospital. The humans there who fixed up my wound were really kind. They were gentle and careful, and said I was a good boy and other nice things. I was really brave, if I do say so myself.

The vets found some more untreated, infected bites and treated them. They are monitoring my wounded leg now, and are giving me medicine to make me feel better and to help me heal.

Now I am recovering at the Soi Dog shelter. I’m happy and relieved to be safe, comfortable, eating and sleeping well, and no longer feeling miserable and terrified. Maybe humans aren’t so bad after all!

I’m sad to say that in Phuket, there are countless animals who are homeless like I was. It’s only a matter of time before any of these vulnerable dogs or cats gets sick or injured, or some cruel human hurts them.

Your gift will help Soi Dog Foundation be ready to help these animals when they need it. Please go to https://bit.ly/SaveKagi and give now. I know you adore animals and don’t think we deserve to suffer just for being homeless. Thank you!
