Nicky is a sweet, friendly old male dog who arrived at Soi Dog with severe maggot wounds. Sometime in his 13 years of life, both his ears had been injured. Unfortunately, in Phuket’s hot, tropical climate, it’s common for maggots to quickly infest wounds in homeless animals like Nicky.

A kind woman who’d been feeding Nicky noticed the horrendous condition of his ears and contacted us. We collected him and brought him to our hospital. Our vets gently and thoroughly cleaned his severely infected ears, which were crawling with maggots and reeked of pus. He was also treated for mild dehydration.

Nicky is safe, comfortable and eating his fill of nutritious food now, but who knows how long this poor old boy had been suffering?

Sadly, this is a common scenario for Thailand’s homeless dogs. It is only because of compassionate animal lovers like you that Nicky and animals like him have a place to be taken for the care they desperately need.
