Yesterday had truly been a very long day of animal-related work.
I'll post all the not-so-nice news here in one posting, and all the better, hopeful and our regular news in separate postings after this....
1. Goldie's case is far more complicated than what meets the eye. It's very sad to know that there is so much dishonesty in this small circle of humans who are supposed to be sympathetic towards animals. The bottom line is, thank goodness Goldie is safe in her first fosterer, Rena Chang's home now. There is nothing so seriously wrong with Goldie, according to Rena. She is only blind and is a distemper survivor. Goldie had lost so much weight during the months that she was supposedly "adopted". Poor thing. But we rejoice that that nightmare is now over and Goldie is alive and safe now. How many more of such cases go unnoticed and unreported?
2. The cutie-pie at Puchong is another very sad story. One of our blog readers, Michelle, had offered to adopt the dog. But by the time Michelle got there in the evening, the guards said the dog was "no longer there". Where is the dog? We hope the dog can be found as we have a genuine adopter waiting to give the cutie-pie a good home. We hope for good news soon.
LESSON: Always act fast.
3. We have had a tremendous increase of requests for help ever since the extra publicity was given to us. I am well aware and prepared for this before I agreed to the publicity. The advantage is, we get to help more people and their animals, but the disadvantage would be the dishonest and opportunistic humans. I do not want to report how dishonest some people can be. It's sad. It's sad that we are all here, supposedly to share this "mission" of helping the street animals, but some people actually want to make money out of this noble mission. Some people think that our money drops from the sky: It doesn't. We work very hard to raise the funds and share it with all of you. On a personal basis, I am constrained; I cannot adopt so many street animals, though I wish I could. That is why I started this fund - to help others so that, together, we help as many as we can. So, we welcome everyone and anyone to work together with us and we're happy to share our funds with you for the medical needs of your rescued animals. To those who come with a similar sincere intention (thank goodness this is the majority), we rejoice in the honour of working together with you and we thank you for the opportunity to let us share in your efforts to help more animals. But to those who are dishonest, please look deep within your heart - you know what is right and what is wrong. The universe is fair. (Honestly, these people drain me out (!) because they try so hard to justify that they are honest when I confront them with proof of their dishonest intentions. It's rather a pain....)
4. The worst kind are those who USE animals to paint a good picture of themselves but what they claim to do is not what they really do. And why they do they choose to do animal charity for this unwholesome intention? It's because the animals cannot talk and cannot report them. This is the worst kind of humans.
Enough said....I need to move on now.
I have a public talk this morning and there's lots to do.
