Great news – six shark and rays are totally protected under the Fisheries Regulation Act 1985 in Malaysia as of today. These are the great hammerhead, smooth hammerhead, winghead and oceanic whitetip sharks, and giant oceanic and reef mantas. Complimentary management measures to effectively reduce mortality will be needed to ensure they can thrive into the future
