Back from the dead… That’s what we think when we look at Poppy today. Because what people like you have done for her is simply a miracle.
If you read our posts about Poppy in the last few weeks, you certainly couldn’t have forgotten her. But if you missed her story, please find it again below. Please read and share it and go to https://bit.ly/Help_Save_Poppy to help more homeless animals like her!
Poppy was found emaciated and starving, her frail body battling the most horrendous skin problems. Our vets said she was only about 4 years old. It is unbearable to think about how much suffering this beautiful girl endured. She was absolutely infested with fleas and ticks and shockingly skinny and weak.
But even though she was one of the most emaciated dogs we have ever seen, what gave us hope was her appetite. Poppy was ferociously hungry and wolfed down the food she was given at the shelter. This was a good sign, but she was so starved that her re-feeding had to be done extremely carefully.
Poppy’s willingness to eat and her obvious desire to survive meant she stood a chance of building up the strength needed to fight the anaemia and skin problems ravaging her body. Over the course of the following weeks, this beautiful girl continued to eat well and slowly began to put on weight.
Today, although she still needs to gain a bit more weight, she is simply nothing like the dog we first saw carried into our shelter by the Animal Rescue Officer who picked her up. Today, Poppy is happy and full of affection. The light has come back on in eyes that were previously dead.
Sadly, as you read this, another animal is suffering and desperately needs you. Please act now. With your support, so many more sick and injured dogs and cats can be rescued, taken to safety, and given the care they need. With your support, so many more lives can be saved.
It is only donations from animal lovers like you that saved Poppy. Will you please act now for other dogs like her? Please donate at https://bit.ly/Help_Save_Poppy
Thank you.
