Almost every animal shelter in Malaysia has encountered people dumping animals on their doorstep. Most shelters have accept that as a fact and even incorporated that into their data and quarantine spaces which is already very limited.
Which is why we have set up Stray Free Selangor to prevent and control stray population. At this point in time, resources focusing on animals are very limited; how many animal clinics do you know in your area compared to shopping complexes? What are the services they can provide?
Today is a sad day when our colleague discovered a line plastic bag sitting outside of the gate and proceeded to check what’s in it. Imagine the horror on her face when she found a dead cat inside. (we are fully aware of the possibility of the cat could be dead already but it’s all speculation now)
Be a responsible pet owner, spay neuter your pets, don’t let them wander outside of your premises without supervision.
Be a responsible rescuer, spay and neuter the animals under your care, educate the people in the area about their existence and teach them how to handle the animals.
If your animals are injured or hurt, send to the correct facilities, to an animal hospital/clinics. You don’t send your elder parent to an old folks home when they’re sick do you?
Take up the responsibility, be responsible, do the right thing.
