DOGS RESCUED FROM "DOG ISLAND" - NOW SAFE IN CHA AM!...
All the dogs rescued on Sunday from "Dog Island" to the WFFT Rescue Shelter in Cha Am are now safe & receiving medical treatment. Many of these dogs were suffering multiple health problems & volunteer vets have been working around the clock giving each dog a thorough health check & then every dog will undergo sterlization. Many were suffering from infected wounds, maggot infestations, & blood parasite infections. These will all be treated before the dogs are returned to the island. Our sincere thanks to the WFFT Organisation who (with funding from Soi Dog) have built temporary shelters for these dogs on their sanctuary land.
Yesterday, the Thai lady who looked after the dogs on the island "Khun Ruen" was driven to the WFFT Shelter in Cha Am to visit her beloved dogs, along with several of the workers from the Phutthamonton Buddhist Park. As she approached the dogs in their new runs, there was much yelping & excitement! This lady is their full time carer on the island & they were extremely happy to see her! She also helped get some of the more frightened dogs into the runs by her usual method of dragging them behind her or carrying them on her back! As Khun Ruen walked around greeting the dogs they were falling over each other to reach her. She was very happy to see them being treated & cared for & anxiously awaits the day when they can be returned to her care. Several dogs have already been adopted & Khun Ruen told us she's happy for these dogs, as long as they go to good, caring homes.
When Khun Ruen departed she couldn't help crying, as she misses her dogs very much. Please help us to re-build the Dog Island Shelter so that Khun Ruen can give her dogs back their home. Soi Dog will be funding the renovation/re-building of the Dog Island shelter. Your donations will help us re-build a home for these dogs.
