SPCA thanks all those who have helped to reunite lost animals with their owners by calling us when you come across one. But SPCA needs a bit more help. If the animal is running loose, we would need callers to confine it or monitor it to see where it goes until our Animal Rescue Officer arrives. This is to make sure that the dog, cat or rabbit has not run off somewhere else and cannot be found. This also applies to animals that are injured or sick but still mobile.
Other ways you could help is to bring the animal to us, or, even better, you could keep the animal for a few days and try and find the owner by:
1. Getting a vet to scan for a microchip number. Call SPCA and AVA to see who the chip is registered to.
2. Placing notices in the area you found the animal and a (free) advertisement in the "Found" section of Straits Times' classified paper.
This would free up more space at SPCA for other animals in need.
FYI, SPCA attended to over 5,000 calls in 2010 (including emergencies and non-emergencies such as lost animals). Thanks for your continued support!
