Courage is now officially named “Sunshine Courage”, Sunshine is the nickname given by my friend who has agreed to nurse her for a few weeks.
I spoke to another vet today, just to widen my understanding of Courage’s condition and if she has more options.
According to this vet, it is recommended that spinal chord damage undergo reparative surgery within 2-6 hours of the trauma. After that, it might be too late and the damage would be settled.
For Courage’s case, we do not even know when she was hit. It was probably the night before Rohani alerted me.
However, all is not lost. Even if Courage is paralysed for life, this vet remains very optimistic. He said there are “lots of things” one can do to help paralysed dogs. He recommends the wheelchair. He said paralysed legs won’t kill any animal, so he doesn’t see it as any major disaster. Here’s one vet who did not even talk about euthanasia. Now, I like that.
Even though paralysis is not life-threatening, but we acknowledge the fact that a lot of hardwork and commitment is required in looking after such an animal. What more when, as in Courage’s case, the injury is on the L6 vertebrae, that’s where urination and defecation is affected. We may have to express her urine and faeces out.
But here’s more help coming up. We have enlisted the help of Mr Lim, who does energy healing on cases like these (in humans). Mr Lim wanted to visit Courage today, but my friend was not at home. I texted Mr Lim just now and he said he would do distance healing first.
We’re trying everything, folks.
Please pray for Sunshine Courage to recover.
Thank you.
Sunshine’s breakfast today was yoghurt, home-grown pumpkin, liver, multi vit, fish oil, barley seeds and kelp powder. Marine plants enhance health, boost immunity and detoxify.
