This was sent on behalf of Ah Fatt:

Attached herewith the photographs of the 7 puppies and mother dogs that rescue by Ah Fatt from Taman Eng Aun, Klang.  for your info.
Ah Fatt wants me to ask you whether you can sponsor to spay and neuter the adult dogs in that area. They can easily be caught by a homeless old uncle that feed them everyday. We can see there are 9 matured female dogs and 3 male dogs that follow the uncle when he goes there.
According to the uncle, all these female dogs were dumped by people when they were still puppies but started to multiply when they are matured. V feels that the root of the problem was without spaying and neutering them. Do you know any vet that is willing to spay and neuter the stray near that area? We understand from the shopkeeper nearby that there is a vet but we are not sure whether is he willing to do the job for us and how much is he charging?

Ah Fatt was on phone communication with me all morning yesterday and he had decided that he wanted to surrender the puppies to the local shelter for adoption. He requested my assistance for this to be arranged and also our partial sponsorship to pay for the surrender fee.

Ah Fatt informed me he was targeting to catch 7-8 puppies and they were estimated to be about 2 months’ old. I made the necessary arrangements with the local shelter and it was agreed that we would partially sponsor the surrender fee and fully sponsor the required vaccinations for all the puppies while they are at the shelter.

Later, Ah Fatt said he managed to catch the mother-dog as well and asked if the mother-dog could be sent the shelter as well and if we could sponsor her spaying. This too was agreed.

However, when the whole family of dog-puppies were sent to the shelter, it was found that they were only about 5-7 weeks old and were all still breastfeeding. The mother-dog is also still lactating and cannot be spayed yet. As per shelter requirement, the puppies would have to be weaned off before they can be vaccinated. The mother’s milk glands would have to dry up before she can be spayed. So, the vaccinations and spaying would have to wait.

As such, we will pay the partial surrender fee first since the rest of the procedures cannot be carried out yet.

Ah Fatt had informed me that he would do his very best to source for adopters for this whole family. However, as per shelter regulations, only Ah Fatt can reclaim the puppies and the mother-dog as it was he who had surrendered them. If other people wish to adopt these puppies on their own, they would have to wait for the puppies to be vaccinated and spayed-neutered.

I was also informed later that Ah Fatt had gone to the shelter with friends who indicated that they plan to put the puppies up for adoption on various social networks and urge people to go to the shelter to adopt them. As explained above, please be informed that only Ah Fatt can reclaim the puppies from the shelter at this point in time. Others would have to wait for the puppies to be fully-vaccinated and spayed-neutered. If you wish to adopt these puppies or the mother-dog, please go through Ah Fatt (016-9296126). Kindly converse in Chinese or BM only.

As for the rest of the adult dogs, we have pledged our subsidy for their spay-neuter. The difficult task now is to catch them.

If you think of Courage and the many, many dogs, puppies, cats and kittens subject to all kinds of suffering, abuse, accidents, diseases when they are out there on the streets, it becomes really urgent that CNRM be implemented. As already voiced out numerous times, the authorities’ method of capture-and-kill does NOT solve the problem. If it does, why are there still so many strays out there on the streets? The authorities have been capturing-and-killing for time immemorial, why is the problem still there?

Killing does not solve problems. It never does.

Spay-Neuter does. But it has to be done on a massive scale. Until we can convince the authorities to do it, until we can get more people to do it, we do the needful.

CNRM, folks. Let’s help the street animals.
