Operasi Rak Kasut For Mr Zurik

Buddy had been getting out of hand…

We don’t know exactly what had happened between he and Mr Zurik, but from being best buddies, Mr Zurik had grown very, very afraid of Buddy.

This started happening sometime in January and February when I was busy with Vincent’s kidney condition.  We saw Mr Zurik visibly losing a lot of weight suddenly. I actually feared that Mr Zurik might also have kidney issues….

Buddy had taken over the porch and Mr Zurik was too frightened to even eat. Sometimes, I did not have time to monitor the entire feeding session so I would just leave the food for both of them (Zurik and Buddy) and left them to eat. I think Buddy ate up Mr Zurik’s food and this lead to the visible weight loss in Zurik.

It was only in the past two weeks that I realised how Buddy had been bullying Mr Zurik and snatching his food.

The bullying had to stop.

Buddy has a home and is fed over there. He had just been coming over for snacks and discovered that Mr Zurik could be bullied.  I tried putting Buddy in the cage so that Mr Zurik could eat, but Zurik had grown so afraid of Buddy that he dare not eat knowing Buddy is around.

So, we decided not to feed Buddy anymore. Buddy would have to go home.

The small water spray was used. Initially it did not quite work. Buddy would just bounce back like a boomerang.

But now, it seems to be working.

And in the past week or so, we saw Mr Zurik putting back some weight!  He is gaining back some of his previous confidence as well.

Things came to a head that night when there was a massive thunderstorm. Buddy had taken over Mr Zurik’s shoe rack and Mr Zurik had nowhere to go.

And we know Mr Zurik is extremely terrified of thunderstorms. So, that was unacceptable – Buddy cannot take over the shoe rack. It is Mr Zurik’s safehouse during thunderstorms.

So, we launched Operasi Rak Kasut to win back the shoe rack for Mr Zurik.

Okay!!

The shoe rack is Mr Zurik’s again now!
