Today, February 26th, we celebrate World Spay Day!
Soi Dog Foundation has now spayed and neutered over 278,000 dogs and cats since we began operations in 2003 – a milestone only made possible thanks to people like you.
At the start of our efforts, over 50,000 strays roamed the island, with the numbers growing alarmingly due to a lack of spay and neuter programmes to control the population. Our work with street animals consists of spaying and neutering to prevent unwanted puppies and kittens being born into short lives of suffering.
We are conducting a series of mobile sterilisation clinics across the Bangkok metropolitan area, home to approximately 640,000 street dogs. This project will eventually comprise ten mobile clinics and will take an estimated seven years to complete.
Sterilisation is the only proven sustainable and humane means of reducing the stray animal population. Thanks to your support of our work in Phuket, the stray population on the island is now officially under control!
