In my last mail, I told you I could not keep the 4 kittens as I have 2 mongrels in my house and it is too small to keep another 4 kittens and a cat! As it is they are now running all over the car porch, sleeping under the car wheels etc that I find very stressful whenever I neeed to go out. Moreover, I’m not a ‘cat’ person and have always been afraid of going too near them.
I’ve now got someone to take the photos for the kittens for me and they are as attached. The mother cat and the 4 kittens, 2 males and 2 females. The grey ones are males and the white with spots are females. I’ve name them as follows:-
1) Spoty – female, white with grey spots
2) Whitey - female, more whites with grey spots
3) Bisa - male, looks like the normal street cat but is the smartest of the 4.
4) Tiger – male, looks more like a cub with stripes.
A brief on how we got involved with the mother cat. There’s lots of stray cats around my residence and most of them dare not come to my house because of my 2 mongrels except this mother cat. She already had 2 sets of litters before but all were killed by territorial tom cats and motor vehicles. She used to sit in front of our gate when she was pregnant the last 2 times looking at us when we fed our dogs. Taking pity on her, my hubby bought cat biscuits and milk for her during her last recent pregnancy. When the time for her to give birth, she could not find a safe place and kept meowing in front of our gate. Seeing her in such heavy condition, my hubby brought her to an empty box. On 31st August morning, she gave birth to 6 kittens – 1 died after 2 weeks and another was adopted by a friend. Now there’s a balance of 4 kittens are from this 3rd pregnancy. These are the only kittens that survived out of her 3 pregnancy. Seeing all the kittens being killed, I hope to get all the 4 kittens adopted soon. My hubby who have been taking care of the mother and kittens will be away at the Vihara for the Noviate programme on 25 Nov and I dare not handle the kittens.
Because the mother cat has now stopped breast feeding the kittens, I wish to get her neutered asap before another stray tom cat get to her first. There are quite a few tom cats around.
