(If you’ve followed Callie’s journey right from the time of rescue, you’ll need a handkerchief when you read this.)
As u already knew, callie is FIV+ and her flu never really heal, it’s always there. FYI, callies is on retromad since 3rd nov 2011, dosage 0.05ml, 3/day plus lysine, doxy n iron supplement. callie’s passing is quite a shock for me coz she showed an improvement with retromad, increased appetite, flu getting better with lesser discharge n she groom herself more than she previously did.
on saturday i saw her not like herself, eats slower but still finish up her food. so since she showed some unpleasant effect, i stopped her dosage of retromad for the day n closedly monitor her progress. on sunday brought her to gasing for check up. temp and everything seems normal. run a quick complete blood count, her WBC and platlet is elevated, but vet said it’s mostly due to her skinny condition, probably starting to dehydrate hence the blood gets thicken a bit and show high number. but ask me to monitor callie and will run another test later.
her movement slowed down and appetite getting worse as she needs almost 2 hours to finish up her 3rd meal. vomitted once but other than that, she’s seems normal to me. Monday morning when wanted to feed her, she’s actually lying on her side and not moving and she’s pooping. so i immediately took her to gasing. her temp was only 35C, sub normal, so they put her on a heat pad. BP is low. And the liver n kidney results came back, all within normal range, except for slightly elevated reading of sodium, but vet not too concern on that. she was put on drip, and the plan is to get her BP and temp back to normal, then maybe run another blood test to see what’s going on in there or to check for specific virus etc.
Tuesday, she’s getting worse, not eating. even when i visited her, she makes no sound at all ( u’ve visited her few times, u can remember her loud meow) even though at time she looks at me and open her mouth. at 5.10pm, she passed away.
As for someone’s suggestion of a post-mortem, I just want callie to finally rest in peace. she deserves that after showing such a tremendous fighting spirit. i consider her as my inspiration. she died at 5.10pm, but i only notify the vet at 5.45pm. coz i am so sad with her loss.
Dear Mas,
Take comfort in knowing that you had given Callie so much love and care, which she never had while at Petknode.
Time is relative. It’s never about how long we live, but how we live.
You gave Callie a good life while she was with you, something she probably had never had before. She is in a better place now, free from pain and suffering.
I agree there is no need for any post-mortem since I doubt our authorities will nab the two operators. Nature has its own moral laws, from which no one can escape, in this life or later.
You have done so much for Callie. You need a rest now.
Just as Callie is your inspiration, YOU are also our inspiration.
With kind regards from all of us here.
We have offered to help Maslinda with Callie’s final bill, but she says she has already settled it herself.
