“Reminding” Vincent To Drink
Tweet | ![]() |
Vincent had not drunk water on his own since yesterday. I put a full bowl of water in his room but it remained untouched.
I know there’s moisture in the food that he eats but he barely ate. There’s also the daily 250ml subcut, so I am not unduly worried. But with his massive rate of fluid loss through urination, I still wanted him to drink water.
Tonight’s dinner consisted of raw chicken fillet plus just a little bit of liver. But he didn’t want any of it. I’m not giving a whole bowl of liver again seeing how he devoured it at lunch time. You cannot have too much of raw liver.
I know it’s probably the only thing he is willing to eat because firstly, he likes it. Secondly, I think it’s because liver is so smooth.
Well, Vincent refused to eat anything, so I force-fed him some Recovery.
Then, I gave him his meds.
I was worried about him not drinking water, so I thought maybe he needs to be reminded?
So I brought up a syringe and started syringing water into his mouth, which he didn’t like.
Then, it happened.
Vincent jumped down and went to his water bowl.

YES! He drank water by himself.
So, he had to be reminded!
Vincent is clearly still not feeling well. I guess with his kidney condition coupled by his age and lowered immunity, it is not so easy to recover from his respiratory infection.
