Fish Oil For Vincent

Fish oil is known to be beneficial in many ways to humans, dogs and cats.

I wanted to add additional fish oil to Vincent’s diet, so I tried yesterday (half expecting him to turn away and walk out), but no…that did NOT happen!

Instead, he licked up all the fish oil! Hooray!!

Today’s breakfast consists of Coco&Joe’s Turkey Recipe and Chicken&Fish Recipe. Plus fish oil (I cut open the capsule and pour it into his bowl – he licks it all up!). The fish in Coco&Joe’s Chicken&Fish Recipe is cooked sardines.

Sardines are a wonderful, healthy food to give your cat for an occasional treat. Not only will your cat love the yummy fish, but sardines are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, which give your pet’s immune system a boost and help prevent heart disease.

I even tried to sneak in some golden paste, but wasn’t that lucky in doing that.

I asked Coco&Joe’s Mr Ang why fish oil is not added to their recipes and he said it’s because there are some concerns about freezing the oil, so their advice to clients is to add in the fish oil themselves (fresh). Sounds logical to me.

I also went to purchase a fresh supply of Fortekor for Vincent yesterday and managed to chat with the vet. He said that dogs will reveal symptoms if they have heart problems, but not cats. Cats are simply so resilient (and proud?) that they will “tahan” until it’s bad. And many elderly cats actually do have heart problems where owners will not know until…it’s bad. Fortekor is a medication for the heart as well as the kidneys, so that’s a two-pronged medication, which is all good for Vincent.

Luckily Fortekor tastes good, so Vincent doesn’t mine eating it. He just hates the Alucid (antacid) but this acts as a phosphate binder, for gastric problems and for mouth ulcers, so I still have to give him this. But at least that’s only ONE medication which he hates.
