Wetlands are our life support systems. They provide us with water, food & the best natural protection from extreme floods and storms. They also help us to mitigate and adapt to climate change.

And they are home to around 40% of the world’s species.

Over the last 20 years, WWF has helped to protect 377 wetlands across 52 countries under The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands – amounting to 110 million hectares. That’s an area roughly twice the size of Spain.
