Vincent’s New Stash

Our morning started at 4.45am.

Vincent went to his normal spot, to pee.

Oh, oh…what is he doing now?

Ginger seems to be helping to stop him.

Oh no! Another soil-stash!!  I stopped him immediately.

And shooed him back into the house.

I do remember what the vet said. Perhaps Vincent is lacking of certain minerals so his natural instinct would be to “find” those minerals in the soil. The vet strongly suggests that I give Vincent the renal prescription diet (kibble) as this formula contains essential minerals and vitamins in an adjusted proportion (for eg, low phosphorus, etc.) for CKD cats. She also said that raw food only contains about 10% protein and it isn’t enough for Vincent.

The ingredients on the Feline Renal kibble:

Based on the ingredients list, I think for protein, Vincent would still need to be on “real” raw food, but perhaps we can try the renal kibble for all the other minerals and anti-oxidants. I wish they wouldn’t put corn and soy into cat food. Why corn and soy?  Cats don’t eat and probably have difficulty in digesting corn and soy.

I had informed the vet that Vincent refuses to eat kibble, so she suggested that I dry-blend the kibble to sprinkle it onto his wetfood.  I have yet to do this, but decided to do it this morning since Vincent is still wanting to eat soil.

So I opened the container of kibble (already opened the sample pack that the vet gave us). Wow! It was so fragrant and Vincent’s eyes lit up and Ginger and Heidi came charging towards me! Looks like there was no need to dry-blend anything!

I wasted no time, so I quickly poured some out into a bowl and Vincent devoured it all, with Ginger coming to snatch some as well.  My goodness…it was madness!  I also quickly poured out some Cindy’s kibble for Ginger, Heidi and Tabs, but soon, Ginger had already taken over Vincent’s bowl while Vincent looked desperately at me, as though saying, “That’s mine, that’s mine, but Ginger has taken it!!” (Note: Ginger has started bullying Vincent again.)

It was madness!! Is the renal kibble THAT palatable? I thought it tasted awful? I was told that the wet renal (some other brand) tasted like “cardboard”!

Anyway, Vincent got back his fair share and soon, I added his raw food into his bowl.

But I want those “twisties”, please…

The “twisties” is a snack, Vincent. You are a panther, remember?  You need real food as well.

I think Vincent is really hungry this morning, as unknowingly he even ate the Quail! I’m trying to finish up the last bottle of Quail as nobody seems to like it. Not even our super guzzler, Bunny. But Vincent ate it this morning (before realising it was quail…ha ha). He must be so hungry this morning.

Semua taruh, semua mau! Semua makan!

Me no eat quail or rabbit or duck. Me only eats chicken and turkey.

Heidi loved (the smell of) the Renal Kibble so much, she made a ruckus in the kitchen by knocking down the container, trying to open it! So yes, it must be very palatable.

I noticed Vincent has a bit of sneezing again and he weighed 3.3kg this morning, after breakfast. This is a decrease, but maybe the previous increase was due to the hydration.
